ECA Saturday Matinees

Saturday Matinees at ECA engage community members of all ages in diverse and exciting arts
experiences, through theatre, music and film! Tickets to matinee performances are $10 per person, with complimentary tickets available upon request for babes-in-arms 18 months or younger.

In 2014, ECA launched the Arts for Everyone Membership program. Families who qualify for Free and Reduced-Price Meal programs through the school district and low-income seniors are now eligible for $2 tickets to any of ECA’s Saturday Matinee performances. Red Kite, Brown Box

Chicago Children's Theatre's Red Kite, Brown Box is a unique multi-sensory experience that brings participants into the world of Papa Nick and his kids as they explore the space filled with cardboard boxes and simple props. This performance welcomes young people on the autism spectrum into a world of wonder and innovation. Maximum 12 children per performance, parents and family are welcome to attend. Fiddler on the Roof (1971)

This triple Oscar-winning film musical is set in pre-revolutionary Russia and tells the story of Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions. Jazzy Ash & The Leaping Lizards

Jazzy Ash invites the whole family to come along on a Crescent City inspired, jazzy music adventure with her band the Leaping Lizards. Her songs celebrate the magic of movement, with a lot of sugar and sass thrown in, New Orleans–style.

Petra & The Wolf

This new work for young audiences is inspired by the classic Peter and the Wolf. Audiences will experience large-scale puppetry by Glass Half Full Theatre, along with an instrumental score written and performed live by Mother Falcon, a band NPR describes as "the little orchestra that can seemingly do the impossible."

Tetris

Arch8 isn't an everyday dance company. Inspired by the game Tetris, this extremely physical quartet, based in the Netherlands, explores how we connect with one another. Tetris is for the kids who can't sit still, for the ones who like to climb the walls, and for those who can imagine further than they can see!
